What is "Cloud"

Cloud computing is the provision of internet based services that provides resources and applications on a demand basis. The technical detail of the platform is usually abstracted from the client, and as such the service is consumed as a commodity, requiring limited technical knowledge to facilitate administration and integration.

The charging structure is based on a unit fee such as per user, per GB or per month. Fees are generally lower than on premise solutions as resources are securely shared between multiple parties.

Typically the service provided includes all components including support and upgrades.
